Sean Kiracofe is in his sixth year at SMU. A native of Austin, he joined the Mustang staff as the second assistant after serving one season at UTEP and a three-year stint as a club coach with the Austin Metro Volleyball Club. "Sean has been instrumental in developing our middle blockers and does a great job with that group. He also has assisted in all or our recruiting efforts," head coach Lisa Seifert said. "He has become a real assest to our program." Kiracofe assists with all phases of the program and focuses primarily on training the middle blockers, travel, recruiting and practice preparation. While with the Austin Juniors, Kiracofe led his 14-1 team to a third-place showing at the Baltimore national qualifier. The squad then captured seventh at the Devern Crossroads and ninth at Lone Star. He was also involved with Jeff Nelson's Red Raider Volleyball Camp from 1997-99. Kiracofe began playing competitive volleyball at the age of 13 with the Austin Juniors. He competed for five straight years at the Junior Olympics from 1990-94, and in 1994, Kiracofe became the first Texan named to Volleyball Monthly's Fab 50, a list honoring the top 50 players in the nation. After high school, Kiracofe was a four-year starter for Texas Tech. He captained the team in both 1998 and 1999 from his middle blocker position. Kiracofe led the Red Raiders to a Top-25 club ranking both his junior and senior seasons. Kiracofe graduated from Texas Tech with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science in 1999.
