NCAA CLEARINGHOUSE INFORMATION
Southern Methodist University is a NCAA Division I institution and requires all freshmen student-athletes to be certified through the NCAA Clearinghouse in accordance with NCAA rules. In order to be eligible to compete in fall tournaments and matches, student athletes must be "cleared" by the NCAA.
The Clearinghouse process is very simple, but it usually takes time to actually get cleared. We encourage all interested student-athletes to complete the registration process before arriving on-campus for the fall semester. Please note that you are eligible to practice without having been "cleared" by the NCAA, and Clearinghouse registration is not required in order to attend informational meetings or begin practicing with the team. It is possible to register after school begins. However, keep in mind that you cannot compete until you're cleared and actually getting cleared can take a long time, so we suggest completing the registration process as early as possible.
