SMU Women's And Men's Swimming And Diving Ranked In Top 25 By CollegeSwimming.com

DALLAS (SMU)-SMU women's swimming and diving is ranked 12th in the latest standings released by CollegeSwimming.com while the men's program is currently ranked 19th. The rankings listed the top 25 teams in the nation and were based on the votes of a panel of sixteen Division I assistant and head coaches. The poll is conducted by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America. The Top 25 poll will be published eight more times over the course of the 2008-09 season and the final standings along with the champions will be announced on February 26, 2009. While the University of Texas is the number one men's program, Arizona claims the top spot for the women's poll. No. 12 SMU women's swimming and diving will meet head to head with five of the top 25 ranked teams in No. 2 Georgia, No. 7 Texas, No. 9 Texas A&M, No. 19 Penn State, and No. 20 Arizona State throughout the season. No. 19 SMU men's swimming and diving will compete against four of the top 25 ranked men's programs including No. 1 Texas, No. 9 Georgia, No. 15 Penn State, and No. 18 Texas A&M. The women will go head to head with No. 20 Arizona State this Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in Joe Perkins Natatorium, while the men travel to Shreveport, Louisiana to take on Centenary College on Saturday.
