SMU Hosts Rice, Televised Game vs. Houston
SMU hosts Rice and Houston this weekend to start the home portion of the 2009 Conference USA schedule. Sunday's 2:30 p.m. tilt with Houston will be televised on CBS College Sports, with Ann Schatz and Tammy Blackburn on the call. SMU lost a pair of games out west last weekend to Colorado College and UTEP, and are looking to rebound. The Mustangs will host Marshall (Oct. 9, 7 p.m.) and East Carolina (Oct. 11, 2 p.m.) at Westcott Field next weekend.
Mustangs On Television
Since 2006, the Mustangs have had at least one televised home match each season. SMU is 1-3 on CSTV/CBS College Sports, and defeated UTEP 1-0 with a Lauren Shepherd goal in their televised match last season.
SMU vs. Rice
SMU is 10-2 all time against the Rice Owls. The Mustangs dropped a 2-1 decision at Rice Soccer Stadium last season. Rice is one of six programs (also Arkansas, North Texas, TCU, Texas A&M, Tulsa, UTEP) that SMU has ten or more wins against.
SMU vs. Houston
SMU holds a 9-0 total record against the Cougars. The Mustangs 9 wins against the Cougars without a loss or tie are the most against any program. The only other team Mustangs are undefeated and have more wins against is TCU (25-0-2). A win against Houston would make them the seventh program SMU has recorded 10+ wins against (see Rice note). SMU won a 2-1 contest at Robertson Stadium last season, and Logan May scored for the Mustangs.
Packing the Bleachers
Entering this weekend, SMU leads Conference USA with an average home attendance of 652 so far this season. Last season, the Mustangs drew 3383 fans for 9 home games, an average of 376 per game.

Scovill, a freshman from Lewisville, Texas native has started every game for SMU so far, and has played 506 of 630 possible minutes this season.
Transfer of Power
Leslie Briggs has quickly made an impact on SMU after transfering from North Carolina. The Carrollton native is tied for the team lead in goals with three, and was named to the 2009 Saint Mary's Invitational All-Tournament Team.
C-USA Championship
The C-USA Women's Soccer Championship will take place at SMU's Westcott Field from November 4-8, with the top six teams from the league gaining entry.
