Entry 8 by Catherine Campbell:

Since I last posted, we have played games that required travel from an elevation below sea level to one of 3,700 feet, all within a four day span. After returning from a rather eventful trip, we realize that consistency must be our key focus as we approach the conference tournament in Tulsa this weekend. So far, Tulsa has treated us well. As soon as we arrived yesterday afternoon, the Tulsa Doubletree Downtown hotel gave us scrumptious cookies. The best part...they serve them warm! I don't know about you, but I am a sucker for warm, gooey, chocolate chip cookies. It was the perfect treat after a four hour drive!

I can sum up our last road trip with the phrases: "Slumber Parties," Elton John, and Dust Storm. Obviously these three things do not seem to fit into the same category.

We found New Orleans the day after Mardi Gras to be rather lifeless. But never fear, your Lady Mustangs make their own entertainment. On the way to our hotel we stopped at a local seafood restaurant. Before our food arrived, Janielle performed arm "surgery" on BG. If you look closely, Sharee and JB have some battle scars. Then our coach Lisa gifted us with basketball-themed Mardi Gras beads so we didn't feel left out of the Lousiana traditions.

From the bayous of Louisiana we then viewed the West Texas town of El Paso, a completely different terrain and weather. The weather was temperately cool. Occasional dirt pieces seemed magnetically attracted to our eyes. In spite of our red eyes, we of course had to practice. But we did not get to practice at UTEP's gym. Of all the possibilities, would you have ever guessed the reason to be an Elton John concert?? Yep, that's what we thought too. Maybe we should ask Elton to play in each city we play because we pulled an incredible second half on UTEP. I think Cobb still might be on fire. Be sure to congratulate her!

By the end of each road trip, we all realize how much we miss Dallas. As we're sitting in the El Paso airport (inevitably, our flight has been delayed a couple of hours), we are informed that Dallas is having a dust storm. Luckily, we arrived home safely and have Coach Rompola to thank for an extra day of rest.

Now it's back to work. I am currently in the Tulsa hotel lobby diligently writing because the internet does not work in the rooms. For a nineteen year old, no internet access is quite depressing. However, we had a shortened shoot-around this morning and film, as well as our wholesome breakfast and light lunch. We secured a win last night against UCF and ready to battle it out again against the Lady Pirates of ECU.

I also want to let you know that your Lady 'Stangs have this sixth sense. We can hear all your support. So start yelling at approximately 8:37 (tip-off) and don't stop till say...10:40, just in case. For our fans that made it here safely, we expect double.

One Pumped Pony,
Catherine

On a special note...we extend our thoughts and prayers to the friends and family of the Bluffton baseball team.
