DALLAS (SMU) - Two former SMU men's soccer players were named to College Soccer News' Team of the Decade, the publication announced. Forward Luchi Gonzalez was named to the first team and midfielder Diego Walsh was named to the second team.

Gonzalez was SMU's only recipient of the Herman Trophy, winning the award in 2001 after scoring 21 goals and 12 assists in 22 games. Gonzalez left SMU with 48 career goals and 128 points, and was a member of SMU's 2000 College Cup team. Gonzalez was selected by the San Jose Earthquakes as the sixth overall pick of the 2002 MLS SuperDraft. His professional career included stints in MLS with San Jose and Colorado, and overseas for Sweden's Bodens BK and Peru's Sporting Cristal.

Walsh was a two-time first team All-America selection, earning selection in 2001 and 2002. Walsh was also a member of SMU's first College Cup team in 2000. The Columbus Crew selected Walsh with the seventh overall pick of the 2003 MLS SuperDraft. Walsh played for Columbus and Kansas City in MLS, and is currently playing for Wellington Phoenix in Australia.
