DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU Mustangs will look to keep their Conference USA record perfect when the defending C-USA Champion East Carolina Pirates come to Dallas for a 7 p.m. game on Saturday, October 10.
The game marks first home game for SMU in 35 days, as the Mustangs have not played in Gerald J. Ford Stadium since opening the season with a win over SFA on Sept. 5.
SMU wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders enters Saturday's game leading the nation in receptions per game (10.8), ranking eighth in receiving yards per game (116.5) and rating third in punt return average (24.2). With 29 career TD grabs, Sanders is tied with Dez Bryant of Oklahoma State among active players in career touchdown catches. He's also fourth in catches (230) and fifth in yards (2,918) among current FBS student-athletes.
SMU's defense leads the nation with 12 interceptions in 2009 and registered 17 takeaways on the year. The Mustang defense enters the game having forced multiple turnovers in four straight games, marking the first time since the 2001 season that they have accomplished that feat.
