Welcome to the compliance page of smumustangs.com! This website is designed to serve as a quick reference to the many NCAA rules which apply to the boosters, alumni, coaches, staff members, and current and prospective student-athletes of SMU. We invite you to explore the various areas of this page. It contains information tailored to each specific viewer. While it is impossible to cover every NCAA rule or different situation on this website, we hope you will garner a better understanding of the rules and recognize that everyone at SMU has a role in compliance. SMU Athletics Mission Statement
The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is an integral part of Southern Methodist University's overall education mission and positively reflects the interests and values of the institution's students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends. The Department fosters an environment that encourages degree completion, good citizenship, character and personal growth to help support student-athletes who will become positive role models and productive members of society. The Department is committed to fiscal responsibility, gender equity, diversity, and proper sports conduct among all of its coaches, administrative staff, and student-athletes, and to maintaining high ethical standards and compliance with all NCAA, conference, federal, state and institutional rules and regulations. The athletics program is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of its student-athletes, achieving athletic success at the highest levels of intercollegiate competition, serving as a positive representative of the University and instilling a sense of pride and loyalty among its constituents.
Reporting Suspected NCAA Rules Infractions
Soon, the University will have an email account to anonymously and confidentially report activities that may involve violations of NCAA regulations by coaches, staff, student-athletes, or boosters. For now, simply email bwhitesi@mail.smu.edu and your concern will be looked into professionally and discretely. Remember, NCAA compliance is a shared and important responsibility.
